{"id":54743,"date":"2024-05-29T12:28:28","date_gmt":"2024-05-29T16:28:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdtimes.com\/?p=54743"},"modified":"2024-06-03T13:05:37","modified_gmt":"2024-06-03T17:05:37","slug":"harness-announces-plans-to-acquire-feature-management-company-split-software","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sdtimes.com\/cicd\/harness-announces-plans-to-acquire-feature-management-company-split-software\/","title":{"rendered":"Harness announces plans to acquire feature management company Split Software"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CI\/CD platform provider <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.harness.io\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Harness<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has announced its plans to acquire the feature management company <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.split.io\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Split Software<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By incorporating Split Software\u2019s capabilities into its platform, Harness will be able to offer a software release platform where developers can not only release software, but run A\/B tests and measure adoption of specific features.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>With the acquisition, Harness said it will deliver a feature management solution that combines core feature flagging capabilities, experimentation, feature flag workflows, governance, and the ability to<br \/>\nmanage\/archive stale feature flags. All of these capabilities will be integrated into the Harness<br \/>\nSoftware Delivery platform to help customers build, deploy, and release software while running<br \/>\nA\/B tests to experiment and measure feature adoption, the company told SD Times.<\/p>\n<p>Yet for all the advantages of feature experimentation, it has remained under-discussed and under-utilized widely in the software industry. &#8220;It\u2019s an overlooked competitive advantage among companies looking to experiment often and iterate quickly,&#8221; said <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jyoti Bansal, co-founder and CEO of Harness<\/span>. &#8220;Based on how fast digital-native players are innovating, I believe feature experimentation will soon be table stakes in the standard developer lifecycle as customers become more vocal about having their feedback and needs quickly incorporated.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bansal noted one thing that has held this technology back from being so widespread is that it has historically only been available in point solutions that are not integrated deeply into the developer tool<br \/>\nstack. &#8220;This is what makes our acquisition and integration with Split so unique\u2014we\u2019re unlocking a seamless, end-to-end experience for developers to work solely from a single platform,&#8221; Bansal said.<\/p>\n<p>Bansal called Split &#8220;the obvious choice for us as an established feature management platform&#8230; The market demand for a solution that\u2019s integrated directly into the Software Development Lifecycle is massive. The timing couldn\u2019t be better for our two companies to come together to deliver tremendous value for our customers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brian Bell, CEO of Split, added: &#8220;The moment of feature release is a critical touchpoint between the developer and user.
